BioPower as an integrated initiative was launched in April 2007. It will scale up rapidly during the course of 2007. Major activities during the launching phase will include:

• Continuing the strong biofuel crops research underway in Asia and Africa

• Strategic planning to expand the vision and opportunity

• Broadening and strengthening public-private partnerships

• Dialogue with sustainable development investors to raise the resources needed to accelerate research and impact

• Raising public awareness
