ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the position of Visiting Scientist, as part of a continuing expansion in the institute's commitment to using genetic resources and modern approaches to crop improvement. The positions will be and based at ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India.

ICRISAT is a non-profit, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeonpea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics.

The Job: To assess diversity of germplasm collections using morphoagronmic and molecular markers data.

The Person: PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics with knowledge of Biotechnology/Molecular Biology and 3 years of post-doctoral experience. Experience of analysis of large sized data on phenotypic traits and markers to assess diversity and association mapping is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong publication record. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multi-cultural environment of the institute is important.

The Reward: A competitive compensation shall be paid to a deserving candidate, this position is for one year initially and extendable for three years depending on requirement, funding availability, and performance of the incumbent.
