AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. The Center conducts research and development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world. The Center ’s Regional Center for South Asia (RCSA) in collaboration with Sir Ratan Tata Trust, is implementing a five year project: Improvingvegetable production and consumption for sustainable rural livelihoods in Jharkhand and Punjab, India. The goal of the project is to enhance rural livelihoods in tribal areas of Jharkhand and rural areas of Punjab. RCSA is seeking highly motivated Indian nationals for the following positions:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide overall monitoring and coordination of various project activities;
  2. Establish and maintain effective communication links between project manager, site coordinators, other team members, community contacts, and farmers in the participatory development activities;
  3. Provide leadership in coordinating on-farm trials, evaluating new vegetable varieties and low-input crop-soil management practices including integrated pest management technologies at RCSA;
  4. Organize and coordinate expert trainings on IPM, variety evaluation etc for capacity building of local partners in carrying out research and extension activities for vegetable growers;
  5. Prepare reports, publications, presentations and organize annual partners meetings as needed for donors, project beneficiaries, and team members.

Qualifications and experience: Ph.D. degree in agriculture, horticulture or related field with specialization in training; Experience in designing/coordinating various types of training activities and marketing; Extensive experience and demonstrated competence in project management, participatory research and farmer community development; Technical proficiency in extension activities ; Well conversant with the computer skills; Fluency in written and spoken English , and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Appointment: The incumbents will be based at Hyderabad, India. The initial appointment is for two years with expectation of annual re-appointments depending on performance and requirements . Salary and perquisites are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
