The Panda comes to ICRISAT (16 June 2003 )
The world-famous white panda logo of the Word Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) International is going to come to ICRISAT-Patancheru from July.
ICRISAT has signed a Memorandum of Agreeement (MoA) with WWF International for the implementation of the Dialogue on Food, Water and Environment project. Dr Claude Martin, Director General of WWF International and DG Dr Dar signed the MoA.
According to the Agreement, WWF and ICRISAT will co-operate in implementing the project in India and abroad. WWF will house its office within ICRISAT-Patancheru campus. Both partners will also explore possibilities of collaborating with other CGIAR centers for this project.
Dr William Dar, Director General of ICRISAT, said that the MoA provides a good opportunity for working together with WWF which has become famous all over the world for its habitat conservation projects.
The WWF office at ICRISAT-Patancheru will open by 1 July.
The Patancheru campus of ICRISAT hosts the offices of other international and national institutes, and private sector companies. They include: the International Water Management Institute, the International Livestock Research Institute, Natural Resources Institute, Directorate of Rice Research, Directorate of Oilseeds Research, SM Sehgal Foundation and Avestha Gengraine.
