Kai Mausch is an Economist who has been working on rural development for over 10 years and since 2010, he has been working for ICRISAT. He has a PhD in Economics from the School of Economics and Management, Leibniz University of Hanover, Germany. He explored solutions to rural poverty from both the agricultural as well as the non-agricultural perspective. Before relocating from his posting in the Malawi office to the regional hub in Nairobi he was working on spillover effects of ICRISAT research. The underlying driver his work is to analyze and improve the delivery of ICRISAT’s solutions to households that could benefit from them. The changing context of markets and various characteristics of rural households are key aspects in this work. To ensure quick turnaround and wide delivery of results utilizing ICT tools for surveys and communicating research results has increasingly been a key component of his research.
