Samuel Tetteh Partey, a Ghanaian national, joined ICRISAT-Mali as a Scientist in the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) in July 2015. Apart from synthesizing knowledge and contributing to strategic research of interest to CCAFS, he handles administrative tasks for the CCAFS regional program for West Africa, especially with regard to the development and advancement of partnerships. He also plays a strategic role in the monitoring and evaluation of projects.

He holds a PhD in Environmental Biology from the University of Manchester (UK) and a PhD in Agroforestry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.

Prior to joining ICRISAT, Partey was a lecturer at KNUST and a Senior Researcher and Principal Investigator for a bamboo-based agroforestry project led by the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) in Ghana. He was awarded with the prestigious Dorothy Hodgkin’s Postgraduate Award (by the University of Manchester, UK), the Global Rice Science Scholarship (GRiSS) (for research at the Africa Rice Center in Cotonou, Benin), and a Government of Canada Scholarship (given by the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada).  In recognition of his hard work, Partey has since 2014 been offered an honorary visiting scientist position at the University of Manchester contributing to strategic research of interest at the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.

He currently has 20 scientific articles published in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals.
