The results

• 399 varieties released in 170 countries, contributing to sharp increases in productivity

• Germplasm collection and exchange — over 113 000 germplasm accessions from 130 countries held in trust, preserving crop diversity, and ensuring that plant breeders worldwide have free access to valuable genetic traits. About 624 000 samples distributed to 141 countries.

• National research programs strengthened through training, sponsorships for higher education, establishment of research networks, and information exchange.
