Drought and desertification
threaten the lives of about a billion people in 110
countries. Most countries in the arid and semi arid
tropics suffer from frequent droughts and crop failures
leading to acute poverty and malnourishment. South Asia
and west and central Africa are some of the most
drought-prone regions of the world. Empowering vulnerable
communities with information that helps them to cope with
drought will make a lot a difference in dealing with
recurrent droughts. We strongly believe that preparedness
is better than relief. We have put up together an
information resource to help people understand drought
better. This resource consists of links that direct you to
several networks and organizations, and also to ICRISAT’s
e-library that has a repository of information on dryland
farming. |
