A pan-CGIAR collaborative proposal development on nutrition-sensitive agriculture, opportunities for a pest and disease platform and intensifying work on rice fallows were some of the key discussions at the CGIAR South Asia stakeholder meeting held in July 2019
Representatives from 12 CGIAR centers and 2 CRPs, besides key CGIAR funders including Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, European Union (EU), Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and International Fund for Agricultural Report (IFAD) shared insights during the meeting.
The CGIAR stakeholder meeting is primarily targeted at investors in CGIAR R4D and is being organized as part of the India country coordination initiative of the CGIAR.
The objective of the half-day meeting was to bring together valued funders and the CGIAR centers working in India/South Asia and update on the innovative work being done in this geography and to identify collaboration opportunities. “Nutrition sensitive agriculture” was the theme selected for the event.
Mr Andre Zandstra, Director, Funder and External Engagement, Dr Peter Carberry, Director General, ICRISAT, and Chair-CGIAR country coordination, India; and Ms Joanna Kane-Potaka, Assistant Director General – External Relations, ICRISAT, facilitated the discussions.
