About the course
Gene editing, a new breeding technique (NBT), is at the core of new-age agricultural innovations available to breeders today enabling very efficient and precise trait generation and selection without any adverse impact on the native phenotypes. These tools will also facilitate the speed of genetic gains and advancing research in delivery of products that enable “disruptive reduction” in the input costs to the farmer and “exponential gains” in the nutrition and yield.
Gene editing technologies have revolutionized the process of making DNA-level changes and the implication of this technology reaches far beyond standard molecular biology applications. Hands-on training program on “CRISPR/Cas9 Gene Editing technologies in plants” is a comprehensive training program ideal for researchers who are looking for a balanced theoretical and hands-on introduction to gene editing. The training program includes both theory and hands on practicals for better understanding the various components and stages of gene editing.
The training will help to learn the basic gene editing workflows, from design and synthesis of target-specific guide RNAs (gRNAs), delivery of gRNAs in plant cells, detection, and analysis of gene editing efficiencies. This is a great opportunity to interact and benefit from the expertise of our scientists and collaborators, as they help you design your first gene editing experiment. We are confident that by the end of the workshop, participants will be able to design their own experimental workflows.
