Artificial Intelligence in agriculture? Register now for this and more at ICRISAT-Corteva Plant Science Symposium-2018

Hyderabad│09 August 2018: Climate is changing, agriculture must too. This is the tagline of the international ICRISAT-Corteva Plant Science Symposium-2018, being held in Hyderabad on 6-7 September 2018. The event, jointly held by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and Corteva Agriscience™ (Agriculture division of DowDuPont) will host speakers from different countries.

The fluctuation in the climate over years, has led to consequences such as unexplained rise or fall in global mean temperature, drought conditions and rise in sea levels. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2014), greenhouse gas emission has risen higher in the 2000–2010 decade than in the previous three decades. The scientific fraternity needs to come together and find suitable strategies to combat climate change.

In this context, the Plant Science Symposium will host speakers from across the globe on this theme besides holding a contest on Artificial Intelligence and plant science. The symposium will cover a wide range of topics including advances in plant breeding, new biotechnologies, innovative approaches to overcome biotic and abiotic stresses, challenges for crop breeding and application of cutting edge technologies for understanding of plant biology and crop improvement applications. It will offer an exceptional opportunity for researchers to discuss their climate change-related queries and strategies for coping with its challenges in the current scenario.

The major themes at the conference include:

  • Trailblazer sciences for climate-smart agriculture
  • Advances in biotic and abiotic stress management
  • Artificial intelligence: an escalating technology in agriculture

Researchers, students and academicians are invited to submit abstracts on any of the above themes. Awards will be given to the best poster and oral presentations.

The symposium also invites ideas for a competition on “Applications of Artificial Intelligence for meeting the future agricultural needs”.

Do you have an idea on AI and its applications in plant breeding/plant biotechnology/crop protection/crop physiology/crop modeling? Applications are invited in the form of short write-ups. The selected best ideas will get an opportunity to present it at this international forum.

The deadline for online registration and abstract submission is 15 August 2018. For more details, registration for the conference, please contact Pratap: lsu@cgiar.org, +91 9701522279, Devashish: icrisatlsulp07@cgiar.org, +91 9515681181
