  • Development and promotion of improved chickpea.
  • In Shewa, Ethiopia, 80% farmers plant improved chickpea in 2013-14 (30% in 2006-07).
  • Total improved chickpea area grew from 0.17 ha to > 0.4 ha by 2014.

 Impacts

  • 10% increase in chickpea-planted area
  • 12.6% increase in per capita income
  • 12.3% increase in total income of farmers.
