Dr Moses Siambi
Research Program Director - Eastern & Southern Africa and Country Representative, Kenya

Moses is a Kenyan national. He has a PhD in Crop Physiology and Soil Fertility and Management from Iowa State University, USA.

He has over three decades of experience in agricultural research related to crop production, soil fertility management, and Simulation Modelling of systems of major grain legumes and cereals in the less climatically favourable environments in Eastern and Southern Africa. Before joining ICRISAT he worked for the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute as an Agronomist. He was a visiting Scientist at CIMMYT-Nairobi and led a successful project on Maize Seed Systems for eastern Kenya and Uganda. He is also a Principal Investigator on a number of research projects in the region.

In recent years he has focused on developing Seed Systems for legumes in the region that have benefitted many smallholder farmers and created trade opportunities in the region. For this work he has received awards from the National Smallholder Farmers Association of Malawi, Farmers Union of Malawi and most recently from the Seed Trade Association of Malawi.
