Suresh C Pillay is Head of Farm & Engineering Services, Research Program-Asia, and is based at ICRISAT, Hyderabad. He has been working with ICRISAT since the last 29 years.
He holds a BSc in Agricultural Engineering from Allahabad University, India. Prior to joining ICRISAT Pillay had a brief stint with Southern Region Farm Machinery Testing & Training Institute (SRFMT&TI), a Government of India organization involved in testing farm machinery and equipment and training progressive farmers/entreprenuers in mechanized farming.
At ICRISAT, he leads a highly diverse team of over 80 staff members, providing vital support to farm operations and engineering services for all of ICRISAT. He has been instrumental in modifying/developing/import substitution of various equipment to suit ICRISAT‘s research requirements.
He is also actively involved in providing hands-on training to many in-service trainees from ICRISAT centers in Africa, as well as to those from National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS), and Agricultural Engineering undergraduates from various universities in India.
