Under the Aegis of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program of Government of India
This is a two-week training program in the domain of Technology transfer which is being organised under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program, supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The training program aims to be comprehensive and is touted to delve into a wide range of vital topics pertaining to technology transfer.
Introduction to technology transfer, its purpose, and global relevance
Understanding the stages of technology transfer and key stakeholders involved
Identifying promising technologies and assessing their potential for real-world application
Basics of intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights) and how to protect innovations
Evaluating the maturity of technologies using Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs)
Conducting basic market research and identifying target users and competitors
Exploring commercialization options like licensing, partnerships, and spin-offs
Insights into the Indian innovation and tech transfer ecosystem
Building partnerships and exploring funding opportunities, including government schemes
Understanding legal agreements like NDAs, MTAs, and licensing contractsoIdentifying and addressing common challenges in technology transfer
Developing a complete, practical technology transfer plan with expert feedback
By the end of the course, participants will be able to understand the complete technology transfer process, identify and evaluate innovations for commercial potential, and protect them through appropriate intellectual property rights. They will be equipped to assess technology readiness, conduct basic market research, choose suitable commercialization pathways, and explore funding and partnership opportunities. Additionally, they will be able to navigate key legal agreements and overcome common challenges, ultimately developing and presenting a practical technology transfer strategy tailored to their context.
Policy makers & Officials of the National governments, public & private sector organizations, research and academic institutions involved in Innovation, Professionals involved in Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property management and Technology Transfer.
University degree in science, engineering, law, management, business management, economics, social studies, etc.
3 Years of experience in Research, Technology IP and technology management field and roles.
Create a login to apply for the course and furnish all the requisite information. Submit the application online and download the submitted application form
Take a printout of the submitted application form, get appropriate signatures at all the signature placeholders throughout the application form including the English proficiency certificate, medical report, candidate undertaking form and the Employer nomination form.
Scan the complete application document and submit the physical copies of the application form including the undertaking form and the employer nomination form to the Indian High commission in your country and e-mail the scanned copy of the executed application form to vishwambhar.duche@icrisat.org. with copy to babu.potta@icrisat.org.
Please note that we have very limited seats for the course and the eligible applications will be shortlisted by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India on First Come First Serve basis.
