Scientist - Digital Agriculture

Dr Pranuthi is an agrometeorologist and remote sensing expert with over 10 years of experience in climate-smart agriculture, artificial intelligence, remote sensing, and geospatial analytics. She holds a Ph.D. in Irrigation Water Management from IIT Roorkee, and a Postdoctoral fellowship from Volcani Center, Israel. At ICRISAT, she leads the development of innovative Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) platforms to assess greenhouse gas emissions, soil organic carbon, and climate-resilient agricultural practices. Expertise includes integrating crop simulation models such as DSSAT, APSIM, DNDC, and RothC with remote sensing, climate data, and machine learning techniques to support sustainable agricultural development and climate adaptation. Earlier contributions include supporting the national FASAL project through crop yield forecasting using DSSAT models and developing remote sensing-based approaches for crop acreage and productivity estimation.

Areas of expertise:  Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Applications in Agriculture, Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analytics, Crop Yield Forecasting and Modelling, Carbon Projects, Digital MRV, and Sustainability Assessment, Agricultural Water Management and Resource Use Efficiency; SDG-Oriented Research
